Guidelines for application

To apply for
Entrance Examination with the Recommendation from the Japanese Language Schools

If you have a precollege student visa or college student visa, are studying at a Japanese-language school, and have an attendance record of 90% or higher, please obtain a letter of recommendation from the principal, career planning instructor, or your instructor at that school and submit it with an application for admission.

  2. Resumé
  3. Guarantee of the payment of expenses
    Guarantee of the payment of school fees, living expenses, etc.
  4. Most recent educational institution attended (diploma from the high school or university in the applicant’s home country [in English])
    (If the diploma is in the language of the applicant’s home country, attach a Japanese or English translation. However, those from China or Taiwan may bring the actual diploma.)
    (If you are a prospective high school graduate and are filing an application, submit your diploma after graduation.)
  5. Certificate of completion or prospective completion from the applicant’s Japanese-language school
  6. Certificate of attendance and transcript from the applicant’s Japanese-language school
  7. Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s Japanese-language school
  8. Document certifying the applicant’s level of Japanese-language proficiency
    A: Certificate of Level 1 (N1) or Level 2 (N2) of the JLPT
    B: Certificate of achievement (score of 200 points or more) in the Japanese as a Foreign Language subject test of the EJU
    C: Certificate of achievement (score of 400 points or more) in the BJT
  9. Passport
    (Those applying from within Japan should bring their actual passports. Those applying from overseas should send copies.)
  10. Certificate of Alien Registration
    (Those applying from within Japan should bring their actual certificates. This is not required for those applying from overseas.)
  11. National Health Insurance Card
    (Those applying from within Japan should bring their actual certificates. This is not required for those applying from overseas.)
  12. Admission consultation ticket
    (Those who have received consultation on admission are issued admission consultation tickets. This is not required for those applying from overseas.)

Judging System

Screening of application documents: The information on application documents is screened.
Written examination: Examination in Japanese at the N2 level of the JLPT is given.
Interview: A comprehensive evaluation of reasons for applying, future goals, motivation for studying, Japanese-language proficiency, etc., is conducted.
Note: Applicants to the Variety Show Department of the TOKYO ANNOUNCE GAKUIN Performing Arts College must give a performance. Applicants to the Acting Performing Art Department, Announcing Department, and Broadcasting Voice Actor Department must read a script during the interview.

Examination Fees

\20,000 (twenty thousand) will be exempted.

Application Submission

Prepare your application form and required attachments and bring them to the TOHO GAKUEN Admission Office in person.However, if you live far from the school (i.e., outside of Tokyo, Saitama Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, or Kanagawa Prefecture) and cannot come to the school, please contact the TOHO GAKUEN Admission Office.
