Guide for International Students

A lot of international students from around the world are studying at TOHO GAKUEN. International student advisors, who are always available at each school, help international students adjust to school life in Japan. From entrance to graduation, the advisors provide all kinds of consultation.

About TOHO GAKUEN

TOHO GAKUEN is a technical college accredited by the Tokyo metropolitan government. Upon completion of the school’s two-year course, a diploma is awarded, which gives students a huge advantage when seeking employment in Japan.

About Tokyo

The school buildings of TOHO GAKUEN are concentrated in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo. Shinjuku is a convenient location that provides easy access to other areas in Tokyo. Students can go to Shibuya, Harajuku, Odaiba, Roppongi, and Akihabara by train, subway, or other means of transportation.

Student Dormitories/Apartments

Although TOHO GAKUEN does not have dormitories exclusively for international students, the school will introduce you to designated student union dormitories and other dormitories for international students. Each room is furnished, and dormitory fees include two meals per day (breakfast and dinner). If you would like to live alone in a private apartment, the school can introduce you to a real estate agent.

Student Commuter Passes

International students of TOHO GAKUEN can purchase commuter passes for trains and busses (at a 50% discount o_ regular fares).

Part-Time Work

By acquiring permission to engage in activities other than those permitted under the status of residence previously granted, an international student can engage in part-time work up to 28 hours per week. However, because our school offers a lot of practical training, it may be difficult to balance work with school, depending on the department. Please consult your advisor.

Japanese-Language Support

TOHO GAKUEN has a Japanese-language class in which students can study business Japanese. The class aims to teach conversational Japanese and business etiquette that are needed to find employment in Japan. These classes are recommended to those who would like to improve their Japanese skills.
